Clear aligners are custom-made, transparent plastic trays that fit over your teeth and gradually move them into the correct position. Unlike traditional metal braces, they are virtually invisible, removable, and more comfortable to wear.
How does GoClear work?
Your certified GoClear orthodontist takes a digital 3D scan of your teeth. Using this scan, a personalised treatment plan is created, and a series of custom aligners is manufactured. You wear each aligner set for 10–14 days, moving through the series until your treatment is complete.

Treatment Process
How long does GoClear treatment take?
Treatment duration varies by case complexity. Most mild to moderate cases complete in 6–12 months. Complex cases may take up to 18 months. Your doctor will give you a personalised estimate at your consultation.
How many hours a day must I wear the aligners?
You must wear your aligners for at least 20–22 hours per day for optimal results. Remove them only for eating, drinking (anything other than plain water), brushing, and flossing.
Will the treatment be painful?
You may experience mild pressure or discomfort for the first 1–3 days after switching to a new aligner set. This is completely normal and indicates your teeth are moving. Most patients describe this as pressure rather than pain, and it passes quickly.
What happens after treatment?
You'll receive retainers to maintain your results. Retainer wear is essential — teeth can shift back without them. Typically full-time for 3–6 months, then night-time only.

Can I eat and drink with aligners in?
You should remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than plain water. Always brush your teeth before reinserting them to prevent staining and decay.
Will aligners affect my speech?
You may notice a slight lisp in the first few days as your tongue adjusts to the aligners. This passes quickly for most patients — usually within a week.
Can I play sports with aligners?
Yes. Clear aligners are safe for most sports. For contact sports, it is recommended to remove aligners and wear a mouthguard. Consult your doctor for specific guidance.
